My favorite part of a roast duck and this restaurant serves 6 pieces. I would say, this restaurant is not for the fainthearted. (Oh yes, I eat everything.) Well, I did say Szechuan right?Īnd they got this Konjac that is so good. The hot sour soup is so good for your stomach but be careful as this is extremely spicy. If you’ve eaten salted egg fried chicken, wait till you have eaten salted egg corn kernel. When you do get a seat, order these dishes: Salted Egg Corn Kernels Szechuan Mountain House is open for indoor dining, outdoor dining, and takeout - and they also have a location in Flushing in case that's more convenient to you. Come too late around 7:00pm for dinner and you’ll have to wait more than 40 minutes. Combined with a helping of garlic paste on the side of the plate, the cold cucumber and fatty pork will temporarily convince you this is the only way we should be eating pork belly. The best way to eat here for large groups >6 people is to grab a reservation. I would still recommend you to go to Szechuan Mountain House in Flushings, the original one, because then you can discover the foodie destination in Flushings that all tourists in NYC still don’t know. Like I said, only eat in places with a 4 out of 5 star rating on Yelp. They still maintain a 4/5 rating on Yelp. Szechuan Mountain House has come a long way since then, opening its not so good second location at St Marks in East Village. Save for its tiring trip to ride the F to 42nd, changing to 7 to reach the end of the line for Main Street in Queens, I was extremely curious about Szechuan Mountain House, a pilgrimage to the gods of Szechuan. My friend, who is a local from Ningbo, China, tells me that I have to eat at this restaurant in Flushings, Queens, because of its authenticity. There are a few places that I highly recommend on my blog, simply because you can’t even trust the reviews to give you great cuisine.
